John Kricfalusi in Candy Cane Lane
So like most young cartoonist, John K and Ren and Stimpy were a HUGE influence to both my art, and my career aspirations. While I wasn't allowed to watch Ren and Stimpy as a tyke, I caught a re-run when I was 15 and my life was forever changed.
It was high time I did a portrait of the man, as a small and pathetic token of my gratitude.
This illustration is a reference to a story John K told on the commentary track for Sven Hoek. The story goes he had a freak out over the backgrounds in this episode, because he asked the background artists not to paint primary colors anymore and then he got yellow backgrounds. He then apparently shouted, "I'm tired of looking at Candy Cane Lane everyday."

Sketchbook Pages Ahoy!
I don't often share my sketchbooks with people, since my sketchbooks are also littered with personal diary entries and the art and chicken scratch is un-readable anyway. I tend to have a heavy hand and re-trace the same line a thousand and one times. BUT I recently invested in a bunch of different non-photo blue pencils and now my sketchbook pages are looking half-way decent! But you guys can be the judge of that.
I drew my pal Hannah during a class we both shared (and hated.) She's a super cool gal with a really fun to draw face and a lot of swag.
And I finally FINALLY saw "Road to El Dorado" after what...12 years? I wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. It's not perfect by any means but, I love how pushed the facial expressions and body language were! And the comedic timing was down right Chuck Jonesy at times! I've always preferred humor in my animation over pleasant cuteness.
My only complaint is that it's upsetting to learn that Miguel and Tulio were originally written as a gay couple, who kissed and cuddled and had pet names for each other. And their relationship is supposed to provide context for a lot of the plot and drama that made it in the final cut. But of course, human sacrifice and strong implications of heterosexual sex are okay in a kids film, but two men calling each other "darling" is too much.

For Jay
So my good pal Jay (also known as Kik0theK1ller on Deviantart) drew these adorable and flattering drawings of me and my roommate, so I decided to flex my caricature muscle and do a little drawing for her.
She has an awesome Filbert tattoo. I am jealous of it. Haha!
Alpha Dogs!
An ABC Concept books for kids for an elective I'm taking at Pratt called "Kids Stuff." I went with a dog theme. For the class, we only had to work on the cover, and the letters A, B and C but I might just do the whole dang alphabet someday! This was so much fun!
Although I'm not sure what'd I do for the letters Q and Z...

It Was A Grave Yard Smash
Happy belated Halloween! I would have posted this earlier, but this is due for a class in a half an hour and I JUST finished it haha!
So yeah, for one of my assignments - I got to design the mother flippin' Monster Mash!
The concept I was going for was old school monsters partying down with new school trick or treaters - wearing the current costume trends.

Wonder Boy Cosplay
So, okay I know this isn't an illustration but it's my first serious cosplay! I made the costume myself (with some help from my mom and my awesome roommates Ilana and Mady) and I'm really proud of it.
If ya can't tell who the heck I'm supposed to be, I'm Hank Venture as Wonder Boy from the Venture Brothers.
I wore this at New York Comic Con this year. Not a lot of people could figure out who I was (I got a lot of "Rainbow Bright's" and "Gay Robins") But when people did know, they got excited...and I feel I should mention Doc and Jackson complimented me on it during the Q and A portion of "Let's All Smoking!"

I Can't Believe How Much I HATE EVERYTHING
Dan Vs. is the best show to draw fan art for when you're having a bad week.

Dan Vs Being Man Handled
More Dan Vs. Fanart! I just love the size difference between Dan and Chris. So cute!

My silly fanart belongs to me, however.

Dan Vs. Chris' Lower Back Pain
More Dan Vs. Fanart - I really love the comedic dynamic between Dan and Chris. With a show like Dan Vs, it's pretty easy to get TOO mean spirited to the point where the joke isn't funny anymore and you're left with characters you despise. But Dan and Chris always seem to maintain this balance between mean-spirited comedy and heart-warming, touching moments between two friends. It's really refreshing to see!
Plus, Curtis Armstrong and Dave Foley are HILARIOUS and really talented voice actors!

Dan Vs Fanart
Dan of "Dan Vs." Might be one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time. Considering the show is centered around him being angry at things, he's oddly unique and well rounded!
I don't know many other cartoon characters that have a love of Shakespeare and literature, a love for cats, and a severe allergy to dairy as well as a psychotic rage towards every day mild annoyances.

Methelda the Mermaid
So I doodled a fucked up mermaid on the back of my sketchbook. It was one of those rare spontaneous drawings that I ended up loving, so I inked and colored it. I affectionately call her Methelda the Mermaid. She likes collecting sea-shells and meth.

Dan Vs. Fanart
So "Dan Vs." on the Hub is pretty much my new favorite thing. The roommates and I cannot get enough of it! First of all, it's hilarious. Probably one of the best written shows out there! It's constantly teetering on the line between adult humor and kiddie friendly television and that's something I never grow tired of! Also, character designs by Chris Battle, voice work by Booger from "Revenge of the Nerds" and the legendary Dave Foley, and one time they made a shout out to my favorite movie, the Professional. Give it a watch if you haven't already! It's seriously that good.
Anyway, I'm drawing Dan a lot now - I can't help it. I love the little jerk <3

Ping Pong Ding Dong Fan Art
More Ping Pong Club fanart. I just love these little apple-monkies <3
Maeno, Izawa and the Ping Pong Club (c) Japan, need I say more?

Make Way For Ping Pong Club Fanart
Basically, it's a show with very little plot other than there's a group of junior high students that join a ping pong club and are very sexually frustrated. The show has been called "the Japanese South Park" so that alone is reason enough to watch it. The humor is wonderfully off-beat and sick, as is the art. I mean, this is some meme-worthy stuff
So these two are the main characters, and my personal favorites - Maeno and Izawa. They are basically Japan's answer to Beavis and Butthead, only with more cross-dressing and homo-eroticism. Role the clip!

The Creepy Crawly Princess
Here's a concept illustration for a children's book idea that isn't strong or fleshed out for me to do anything with but I still kinda like the idea. Who knows, maybe someday I'll come up with a sure-fire story for this little girl. But basically the idea is she's the "Creepy Crawly Princess" - a little girl who doesn't quite fit in with the "girly-girly" mold and loves bugs and the study of them more than anything in the world. She protects bugs from getting squished and on occasion has wild tea-parties with them. The insect kingdom hails her as their princess in return.
She is some-what based on yours truly back when I was a wee lass.

Dingle Berry Hound Walk Cycle
Here's a quick and dirty Dingle Berry Hound walk cycle I did for practice. I recognize that I'm no Richard Williams, but considering I was just messing around in flash and animation is not my major or focus, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out!

2 Dirty Hippies
For my senior project, I'm revisiting my old comic concept entitled "Two Dirty Hippies." It's a love story between a young hippie named Tambourine (pictured top) and a Sasquatch (pictured bottom.)

Good Girl
This is easily my most political piece. It's a piece on Human Trafficking, and it will either soon be published in a book, or featured in a gallery show. Either way, the proceeds from the book or the gallery show will go towards relief efforts for victims of human trafficking.
Lonely Together
This is an editorial illustration assignment on an article called "Lonely Together" - all about social isolation during the facebook age.
Tangled Pronouns
This is my solution to an assignment at Pratt where my instructor gave me the title of a made up article, and told me to create an editorial illustration on what I think that article could be about. My title was "Tangled Language", and I decided to create a piece about the Trans community and proper pronouns.
Teen Angst
The Babes of Batman
I owe Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy everything for introducing me to the world of comics when I was just a wee lass.
A Page From My Kids Book
Here's a page from my very first children's book, done for my Children's Book Illustration class at Pratt. It was a simple story about a "muck monster" named foot, who smells like feet and learns all about proper hygine. I may make a revised version and try and get it published.
Lab Rat Model Sheet
This was a fun assignment in my illustration class where I had to create a character and a model sheet! I read about a lab rat at the time that had a synthetic ear attached to it's back in the name of science - so I thought it'd be a cute character concept if that rat got it's new appendage punk'd out!
Bob Fossil T-Shirt Design
Another Mighty Boosh reference, this time with Bob Fossil! Thought it'd be fun to do a t-shirt design of one of my favorite moments from the show, just for fun. Here's the youtube clip for those of you who don't watch the show:
And here's the website if you want to buy the t-shirt:
The Mighty Boosh Fan Art
Some fan art from one of my favorite shows, The Mighty Boosh, just for fun. Plus, British actors Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt are great practice for caricature! They have such crazy features!
A Dingle Berry Hound Dog Comic
A comic I did for my sequential art elective at Pratt. Staring my cat-nip dealing dog character, Dingle Berry Hound.
